Okay, so I'm easily amused. Here are some images from the weekend's picture-taking. Linked image sizes are given. The largest is under 600k. First up, we have a pair of ducks, larger images 165k and 125k respectively.

Next up, a sunbreak in the Japanese Gardens, and a railroad shot from Lake Oswego. The former is 289k, the latter 216k.

Next, two storm shots. I admit, both of these were photoshopped. Heavy-handed in one case. I like them. No, it wasn't stormy to that degree. I still like them. First one is 244k. Second in is 585k - mindful of the file size. Yes, I know it's too large for most screens not to scroll. Yes, I'm too easily amused.

EDIT: smaller/medium version uploaded here - 85k and not quite so much screen space used, either.

Speaking of cameras, I'm back to the lower-end of the two I'd been looking at, the Nikon Coolpix 5400, as likely my best choice. I've priced it online and am now trying to find it locally or have it ordered in. I really want to be dealing with a real store after Dad's fun with the nutcases he ordered his last camera from. That aside, I'd like to hold one. It's a hugely different design from the Coolpix Dad loaned me, so whether I'll like how it feels in my hands I don't know. Did you know Frye's doesn't carry Nikon digicams at all? Not a one. Not in the store and not on their web site either. The web shopping places outdo their prices on the memory cards it uses. It amazes me. I used to adore Frye's. Now it seems like they annoy me and don't have what I want a lot.

And I will never trust them to order anything in, not given that they can't even manage a rain check. There are several camera stores I need to call in the area. If none of them carry it, I will see if one will order it in and what it would cost. Frye's only chance at my business was to actually have the thing in stock, so they're out of the equation now.
