My usual past-times involve a lot of online time. And that's great, it really is, but it's not as fun to scene - and it's downright rude to the folks around you - when you know you might have to vanish on a moment's notice or less, which is what being the first contact on call means. I've had two calls tonight, though both were minor (actually, both were the same issue, too, at the same place; the second one was just a heads-up about another bit of information, more than a call).

But, I can do lots of other things. I've bought a few books that I've been waiting to have come out in paperback - of course, those must be reread. (There are several more I know are out in paperback, but that Borders didn't have. As they're the only bookstore really on my way home, the rest will have to wait until next week.)

Picked up Holly Lisle's Gods Old And Dark at the library. (I'll almost certainly end up owning it, but why break pattern?) I've not started it yet - I was spacy tonight and stuck with the books I've already read before.

It was, on the whole, not a bad way to spend the evening, once the fan really started to cool things off.
