...like 50 degrees and pouring rain....

The forecasters were right. The official high in Portland was 103 at the airport, breaking the record. My thermometer showed 104 at work and at home, around 5 and 5:40 respectively (yes, traffic was NOT kind).

Of course, since both Scott and I work, the AC was off until I got home, so the house is a misery. AC is on now and hopefully the computer room will be tolerable soon - though the house was cooler than outside. Usually it's not, but apparently there's only so much you can bake it? I don't pretend to understand, I'm just grateful for the extra ten degrees or so the AC didn't have to deal with.

Tomorrow is supposed to be up around 100 again. BLEH. But, tomorrow the AC will go on as soon as I stir and STAY on. That will help. So will standing in front of it, which I think I'll do now.

When I went to leave work, I turned the car on, turned the AC on, waited for it to get to being actually cool, then brought it up to blow on me and held my sunglasses in front of it. Because they were hot to the touch. Feh. It worked, though. The rest of my drive was not too bad - I love AC. Getting out in my driveway was awful after all that cool, though. The car's still nicer than in here, but I can't drive around all night, and if I could, I'd still like to get other things done....

...though so far, my brain's just barely able to cope with reading LJ. Ugh.
