Christmas Bells are Ringing

Onesome: Christmas-- Is it Thanksgiving? ...or just the day before the start of the "Christmas Season"? (...and how are you supposed to shop if you're all stuffed with food?) Hey, is anyone going out tomorrow to save tons of money standing in endless lines with 10,000 of your closest friends? Just curious...

It's Thanksgiving. My radio station has been playing 100% Christmas music for a week, because they couldn't wait. Thanksgiving is, alas, no longer the barrier to the Christmas season. Which is a REAL PITY. Ahem. I like Christmas music, but really.

As far as shopping, I think those people are nuts. Although, I have found the day after Thanksgiving is lovely for grocery shopping if you have a grocery store that is just a grocery store (Fred Meyer, which sells so much other stuff, will not do). Everyone is at the stores buying holiday gifts, and the grocery store is fairly clear. Though I don't need groceries right now so I shan't be going tomorrow. I may go out shopping tomorrow for the heck of it, but hopefully that brief bizarre impulse will delay at least until Saturday....

Twosome: Bells-- Okay, we'll give in and admit that maybe the season has started: what decorations are you looking forward to seeing in the next few days? ...the lights in the downtown? How about knowing you'll soon have a tree with that memorable ornament? The Toys for Tots drop off? What makes you comfortable knowing the Christmas season is really here?

We don't put up a tree. I don't feel right having one in only to kill it - and live trees must be planted out, which we've nowhere to do properly. I'll start to enjoy the lights and the tinsel and decorations I see about at other people's expense, though it still feels a bit early this year. And the music which, as I said, I love when I'm not growling about how early it has started.

Threesome: are Ringing-- ...in your ears? What song are you just dreading to hear this season? Come on, the one that just makes you scrunch up inside and want to duck into an iron foundry so you can't hear it? Weird Al? Something from "The Nutcracker"? Those dogs? I mean come on, there's some bad stuff out there ...

Salvation Army Bells. They won't be at Target this year (yay!) but I bet they'll still be at the mall. Why that awful, ugly, painful din is supposed to make you want to give them money, I have no idea. It's not like they shut up when you give them money. If they did, I'd be waving money at them before I was within 20 feet. :P

Speaking of actual music? I can't think of any right now. It's all premature at this point, but I haven't heard anything I dislike greatly. I would like to hear Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer (sorry, but I would), but I haven't yet.
