The two stations I normally listen to in any degree are both playing all Christmas music, all the time, since just after Thanksgiving. I could scream, most days, but I still like my traffic reports. I'm listening to CDs after I get the traffic reports, though.

Yesterday, however, they got me. I was driving home and the traffic was icky, and I was trying to figure out how to get home with the least pain (which I actually managed, I think), and being irked at the traffic. I was thus still listening to K103, the station that has the traffic reports I can use. When abruptly my radio begin singing, "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas...." (to a nice bouncy circus-music sort of tune).

All Christmas music, all the time, has caused one station to get creative because people starting complaining about the same thing over and over in 40 million arrangements. This would be the station that dug up this gem. I didn't believe I was hearing it at first. It took me a while to stop blinking and mentally 'staring' at it, and then I started laughing.

Nonetheless, I really wish they would play something besides Christmas music. Even if it does have its funny moments, and even though (in smaller doses, anyway), I like most Christmas music.

I love that song. Though I don't imagine that the recorded version is /quite/ as disturbingly cute as the 8 year old with several missing teeth singing it. She'd probably be horribly embarassed at my remembering that. (said 8 year old being now 19 or 20 and an amazing singer, she's the daughter of one of my sunday school teachers.)
