Friday Fiver: Holidays

1. Do you have any holiday plans?

Yup. Some time Christmas Eve with my parents, dinner Christmas Day with Scott's aunt and uncle, and a lot of down-time and vegging.

2. Will you be traveling?

Only an hour or so each way on Christmas, for the dinner.

3. What is the worst thing about this time of year?

The commercialism. I was raised in our society and I like things too, but it hits a level that's distressing to watch at this time of year. Also, when I need new pants, it means the mall parking lots are jammed with people trying to buy appropriately fancy but somehow cheap gifts for people they hardly talk to....

4. Do you have any favorite holiday foods?

Not that I don't cheerfully eat at other times if they're available, really. I don't think any of the dishes or candies I really like is exclusively a Christmas thing. Although the chocolate-covered cherries (which I really ought not have so many of) are easier to find this time of year, as is the maple sugar candy.

5. Is it a Christmas tree or a holiday tree?

Either. I usually say Christmas tree, but I suppose if it belongs to someone who prefers it to be a holiday tree, it is. Either way, they're usually awfully pretty.
