When I was a little girl - 50-odd years ago - in Portland, on a street named Peacock Lane, everyone there decorated their houses in a hugely gorgeous and ornate manner. Do they still do this?
I'll leave this at your blog as well, but yes, I'm told they still do. I keep meaning to make it to Peacock Lane one of these years to see it, but this I have never yet actually done. Still enough of a tradition that one of my radio station's Christmas seasonal ads includes the line, "It's the lights on Peacock Lane" in defining the season. (All leading up to adding their 24x7 round of Christmas music to the list of things that define the season, of course....)
