Scott is playing an early beta of an MMORPG. And he says:

"Well, I'm having a bit of a problem leveling. You see, hot key one is supposed to be attack? And it got unassigned. So in order to level, I have to train monsters to the guards and hope I get experience. I hope I can get enough to gain an attack skill."

(I looked at the screen. It was flat ground with people on it and nothing else. He explained to me that due to a bug, the terrain just didn't bother to show up, so he's kind of figuring out which way to go by which characters are where. I'm laughing a lot now....)

I remember the day we found the "naked" bug on TSO. That was an interesting night. It also made the houses unstable, so people stopped doing it. It sounds like this game isn't nearly that far along.

The Sims Online. There was a free, public beta for a couple months during November/December before it came out. I think that was 2002.

Ah. No wonder I didn't know what it was. The Sims is a game I don't think I'd enjoy even if my graphics card could support it.
