Last night I bought a video card. My current desktop has sound/video on the motherboard; I wanted to get one off, as it should improve the WoW gameplay experience (which is actually better than the old desktop...) quite a bit. Fry's had a perfectly nice video card that had all the required and several of the preferred features for WoW support...for $29.99 after mail-in rebate (normally $80). Alas, my computer can't use it. :( Only PCI Express cards. Pfeh. So I had to return it. But I'll get one at some point that does work, I'm sure. I'm just stubborn about wanting a sale.
I saw my parents today - drove out and spent an hour or two with them and their cats, talking and (of course!) petting the cats. I took a prednisone last night and I expected to need to shower when I got home - I usually overdo it with the cats and come away realllly allergically-reactive. I backed off when it started, though, and when I got home I was okay - YAY! That may be progress in the allergies department, if only some. I will take what I can get. I got some photos of the cats and of my drive home, which are up at my Flickr account - 8 in total. Basta (the elder cat) has these really funny twin white whiskers (and in the photo that shows them, demonic flash eyes, too).
Got home and headed right back out long enough to gas up the car, hit the library, buy stamps, all that fun stuff...and stop at Office Depot to get my new desk. The one I use right now has several drawbacks, the biggest being a shelf across the bottom that means I can't put my desktops under it but they must sit alongside. The new one should hold everything and use less space, too. (Er, everything that's computer-related. The assorted crap that has landed in odd-shaped corners where computer stuff won't fit will mostly need to find new homes.) If the desk works out, I'm going to move out the desk I have now, and put in bookshelves (which won't use up as much space as it was), which will be really nice.
I did dishes earlier. Now I should probably go start laundry, and then start the constructing of the desk. That sounds too much like work, though....
