Depends on the forecaster. If it's Ed Rappaport or that Avila fellow that replaced him, or if it's Rob Breszny, it's pretty darn reliable. Your random bubbleheaded weatherguesser or newspaper horrorscope writer? Feh. Both of'em are a crapshoot.
It is so tempting, of course, to pick the 'darts' answer because it is funny. But there is no real choice: weather forecasting, bad as it often is, has a scientific basis. Astrology does not.
Sorry to be a spoilsport. A better comparison is in the following joke:
Twice a year, economists and weather forecasters switch jobs. And nobody even notices.
True, but hopefully it was obvious this was intended as a joke, between the absurd comparison, the available options, and the mood. As far as I know, jokes aren't obligated to be reasonable or to be good comparisons.
Oh, I was glad to see the other joke; it's a cute one. But being chided for comparing the two, when I was mostly just using it as a way to bitch about the fact that Monday was noticeably hotter than I'd been led to expect, was a bit disconcerting.
