1. How far back can you trace your family tree?
I can go back to my grandparents. But I think if I look at Dad's genealogy files (which I have) I could go back four, maybe five generations. Not sure exactly.
2. What is the most interesting (or strange) thing you've heard about one of your relatives?
My...great-grandfather, I think? Tried to sell a town the land the town cemetery was on. Except he didn't own that land....
3. How do you feel about legacy names like John Henry Smith IV or naming children after other relatives?
Naming children after other relatives makes a lot of sense to me, though I think care should be taken to avoid confusion. Too many people with one name gets a bit disorienting. The So and So the Third thing...I dunno. For some reason, I think because it sounds like kingship sort of things, it sounds pompous to me. But other than that silly hang-up I don't suppose there's much wrong with it.
4. Would you consider yourself and/or your family to be traditional?
Amusingly, yes. I am not really very traditional, in college I was even less so, and yet here I am married and settled and all that. Complete with two cats, one of whom is even now testing how long my legs will hold up under her weight, before I dump her off my lap.
5. What is one tradition you have passed on to your children and/or plan to pass on to them?
If I were to have children, I have no idea. And I would phrase this as 'share with them' since you can only pass on a tradition if the child embraces it, anyway.
