Yesterday, I was in a postal-service store. As I arrived, the one man staffing the counter was on the phone, so it took a bit for him to get to me. I didn't mind: I'd much rather stand around listening to his conversation than be in any way involved in it. He was trying to find out what had happened to a package that a customer had shipped, and which had not arrived after 20 days. I had to work not to double over laughing when, shortly after I arrived, he said very emphatically: "No, Hawaii is not an international destination!"
(WoW joke) Today, Scott and I made various stops, one of which was Jo-Ann Fabrics (where I got nothing, but had fun browsing). At one point, we walked through the "seasonal merchandise" and Scott, from behind me, said, "Garden gnomes! I wonder if any of them are engineers."
Later (after we had both finished cracking up), he explained that if they were engineers, they could design our back yard layout for us. I said no, there were also aesthetics involved in that, which is not a direct part of engineering (as practiced in WoW, which was the context of the discussion due to the gnomes reference). Scott's reply is, "Yes, but we'd have the only back yard in the neighborhood that would periodically blow up!"
And wouldn't that be lovely to explain to the HOA? Not to mention our insurance?

no subject
I'm one of those people that try and listen in on conversations I haven't anything to do with.
I'm just nosey.
But it can be funny.
