We're home safe. Laundry is laundrying and I'm off to the store to pick up a few food items that I'd like to have. (It's so nice to eat. Better still if some of it is not from a can....)
The flight back was easy and on schedule. The descent into Portland was fun - several kids behind us who were gasping each time the plane did something that felt 'funny' to them, and it was one of those descents (which I love anyway) where the plane almost feels like it has billowing fabric wings catching the air (yes, I know, silly way to describe it but the only one I can think of) - it will feel steady and floaty for a bit, and then as a bit of lift catches you, you realize you were descending after all. I find it very pleasant. Took forever to get our luggage, but only about as much forever as is usual for the Portland airport, so that is not too bad.
I'm now having an allergy attack. We arrived home to two cats who were very happy to see us. Babe was so happy she's been clingy and the first two times I went somewhere she wasn't (not even somewhere she wasn't allowed, just out of her room), she started yowling. She's settled now so I guess she's decided we are not apparitions. Either that or she's had enough fierce cuddlings and brushings from me for one day.
I'm sorry the trip is over. And I'm glad it's over, because I'm glad to be home. I wish I could do shorter versions of this more often without it being such a pain travel-wise, but that 8+ hours spent flying out is fairly limiting. Still, 'twas lovely.
Off to find provisions for us. :) I think I'll get what I need to make the simple bread-machine bread recipe Scott's father gave us. We've had horrible luck with the couple pre-boxed mixes we've tried.
