So, I picked up On The Prowl, a book containing four modern-fantasy stories. I took it with me to an eye doctor appointment to read. A good thing: pages started to fall out, and the book store where I'd bought it was between me and home still. They swapped it out for one that hasn't been falling apart. (As an aside, when I went back, I met the same clerk who had checked me out when I was there the first time. She remembered me and was surprised I was back. When I said I was just there to try to trade my book for one where the pages didn't fall out, her expression was quite entertaining.)

I've so far read all of the first, and part of the second. I bought the book for the first one, and I'd be glad of it even if I hated the other three (so far, the second one is okay but not holding my attention as much as I'd like). The first story is "Alpha and Omega" by Patricia Briggs - in the same world as the stories about Mercy Thompson. It introduces a new character, Anna (who is a werewolf), but also includes Charles, and is set in Chicago.

There will be a series of three books based on this story, according to the author's web site. They will be released in the summers, while the Mercy books continue to come out January/February ish.

I am filled with glee. I also REALLY want January to roll around so I can get Iron Kissed, of course.
