I love a rainy night. And a rainy day. It's been beautiful today. And, however irked I may be about the process, I do again have contacts and they are finally (after over an hour) mostly in focus. (The left one was refusing to settle where it was supposed to. Given my prescription, until it settles, it's anywhere from almost-right to worse-than-useless, and generally a bit headache-inducing one way or another.)
The weather is beautiful, and the tick of the raindrops on the windows. I don't hear wind, but I imagine it because it seems to fit the weather.
Earlier, before the eye doctor appointment and all of that, I went out to get yesterday's mail. And came back in with my heart pounding and no mail shouting "back!" Why? Because I had just walked most of the way to the end of the driveway, I was by the rear passenger door of Scott's car, when a black lab came 'round the rear corner of the car. I freaked and retreated. I don't think he was a danger: he came toward me, yes, but I don't remember aggression in his posture or expression. Even with me retreating and yelling a fruitless "back!" He was broad in the shoulders, for a lab, a bit stocky, not unusually tall or short. And he scared the crud out of me, so badly that I could not remember once inside whether he had a collar or not.
Scott went out, to get the mail and to see if he had a collar, since if he did, perhaps we could call his owners to come retrieve their dog. But when Scott went out, the dog was gone. I hope he's okay, and just went home to his people. I hope he has people to go home to. But he really, really freaked me out, all the same.
In the mail that got here were some Twilight Alchemy Lab oils I've been waiting for. Only, I'd forgotten about them by the time they showed up (group order with a long lead time). So I got a very pleasant surprise when they arrived, and am quite pleased.
Of course, I also got more than the usual supply of junk mail, but such is life. I know where the trash can is.
