I read these when I realize they're out, it's that simple. This one is not as good as some of the others, in my opinion. It's still good, but it doesn't integrate the magic as well as others, and so it feels deus ex machina when it appears, somewhat. In spite of being completely in reasonable line with other books in the series that I don't have that issue with. Just...so much of it was not dealing with such things that they felt out of place when they suddenly got really strong.

It's okay. It's not great. Pity. Most of the series is.
