This is the second book in the Age of the Five series, which starts with Priestess of the White. I enjoyed Priestess of the White, and I enjoyed this book. Both are excellent, and fascinating. I regret it took me so long to get to this one. Our library doesn't have them, only her Black Magician trilogy, so I bought them. This one got set aside - I think last winter, I'm not sure! - and never picked up again until now. Boy did I deprive myself by doing that.
Unfortunately, the library still only has the Black Magician trilogy, and the first book of this series. (Both libraries, between them, that's all I can find.) So, I'll have to buy the sequel. I wish I'd read this a little sooner, I was just at Powell's Beaverton yesterday (getting Marvin Bell's book of poetry, Mars Being Red). I could have bought the next book while I was there. Sigh.
I find it astonishingly hard to believe that she could wrap this up in just one more book, but it is indeed a trilogy. I really want to read Voice of the Gods now. But I think I'll have to wait, since an extra drive to Powell's Beaverton seems wasteful. Though it looks like there is one at the Tualatin Borders, which is rather closer. I think in this case they may beat Powells. The question is, do I drive up to get it? I think, unless I have another errand at the same time, the answer has to be no. But it is on the way home from work, but I don't return to work 'til next Wednesday. I would have to go a week without the book! Wah! ;)
