I've been up for a couple hours already. Scary stuff.

I've been doing laundry, and I started at about 7:30. And it was GORGEOUS. The sun was still behind the trees (but over the hills) so it was very light but also shadowed, very pretty. The water from the sprinklers had run down the driveway a bit and not yet evaporated away. The air was cool, and the birds were chirping. I really love it at that hour...just gorgeous....

Scott's been away for a week, and I miss him a great deal, but laundry was such a breeze after a whole week of just me. Scott and I normally have 4-5 loads a week (depending on whether we did towels the week before or not, as it's generally a half-load a week, and we have enough to just wait). I only had to do two loads today.

Now, that's simple math. So I probably shouldn't be so excited. Except. I use the laundry facility in our apartment complex. Which has 3 machines. Three loads or fewer means I get it done an hour sooner than otherwise, which is very VERY nice. Two loads means I don't have to pay for the more expensive machine.

Why don't I go to a laundromat? Well, for a number of reasons. First, I'd maybe get all the machines I needed, maybe not, depending on the other people there. Most of the time, in our facility, I know when it will be clear. I don't know when-all it's in use, but I know, of the times I want to use it, the machines will almost always be clear Saturday early afternoons, and Sunday early mornings, my two favored times. Besides, I'm only "competing" with the residents of 15 other units, not half the city. :)

Secondly, the more expensive washer/dryer pair is still cheaper than the equivalent ones in a commercial laundromat.

Thirdly, if I go to a laundromat, I have to do nothing but what I can take along for at least two hours. Excuse me? How is this an improvement over taking three hours to do the laundry, but spending all but about 15-20 minutes (when I'm actually having to do something), in my apartment, doing stuff I want to do or even need to do.

Gee, tough choice.
