And this will mostly have meaning to World of Warcraft geeks, and they may not care. My level 72 mage is fire-specced and is a destructive little wonder these days. I love it. I have gotten at least two criticals (on pyroblast) that exceeded 4100 points of damage.

I have to be very, very careful about not pulling aggro unless I'm willing to actually tank whatever we're fighting. Even with the abilities that reduce threat from my fire spells, I'm still very prone to REALLY pull aggro. If I screw up, I'd better hope Scott is my tank (he's somewhat used to me, and since he's in the same room I can quickly communicate that this was an oops and not a conscious decision to tolerate aggro). Other tanks are likely to simply wind up Hating That Gnome if I blow it.

For my own amusement, I put together a list of my bonus damage and crit bonuses. They do a lot to explain why I am a walking DPS device:

Base bonus spell damage: 525. Base spell crit chance, not counting the specific-to-this-or-that-spell stuff: 15.77%. Also I have a trinket that has a chance on spell critical to increase my crit strike rating by 167 for 10 seconds, which boosts my base crit chance above 22%.

Fire blast, scorch, Flamestrike, pyroblast, blast wave, dragon's breath, living bomb +6%
All fire spells +9%

Damaging scorch spells have a 100% chance to cause target to be vulnerable to spell damage, increasing spell crit strike chance against that target by 2% for 30 seconds. Stacks up to 5 times - and each time it goes off, increments the stack by 3 (so two hits gives a 10% increase)

Combustion - spell - when activated causes each of your fire damage spell hits to increase your crit strike chance with fire damage spells by 10%. Effect lasts until you cause 3 critical strikes with fire spells. 3 minute cooldown.

Crit strikes from fire damage spells cause target to burn for an additional 40% of spell's damage over 4 seconds

Spell crits refund 30% base mana cost

All spell damage dealt (and taken) increased by 3%

Damage done by fire spells increased 10%

All spell damage against targets below 35% health increased by 12%.

Spell critical damage bonus w/all fire spells increased 50%, but spell crits cost an additional 5% of the spell's cost

Cost of fire spells reduced by 3%

Hot streak - any time 2 spell crits in a row using fireball/fireblast/scorch, 100% chance the next pyroblast spell w/in 10 sec will be instant cast. (Pyroblast, at my level: 1044-1322 fire damage, additional 388-392 fire damage over 12 seconds)

Yes, that's basically entirely gloating. But it's been amusing me a lot lately.

Yes, but do you have a Giant Sewer Rat? (He's huge in Dalaran. Actually, he's huge anywhere. I call his ROUS.) I love being a tankadin because I can hold aggro against that kind of DPS. ;) Plus, as my icon implies, less time sheeping, more time blowing things up.
