For the last three days, most of the time when I look outside the pavement and sidewalk are at least damp, if not actively being rained on. I've walked out into a light mist and a medium rain. I'm starting to think "I need a couple pullover sweaters that will fit me now" as the weather cools off.

In other words, Oregon once again resembles Oregon in September. It briefly forgot where we were and was doing a good impression of someplace warmer and dryer.

I am so glad to have the rain back. I love the rain and the wind. And now is when I get to be a semi-atypical Mommy, because if you think I'm cooping this much energy up inside, you're nuts. I think I may try to get him some boots, however. I suspect there will be puddle-jumping when it gets just a bit wetter and forms puddles. And I'd like it to take longer than 3 seconds to soak his socks. (Anyone who thinks that boots will keep a 2-year-old from soaking his socks in puddles...well, not my 2-year-old, anyway, I don't think.)

Oh man I love this weather. It is cooler. More comfortable. Soothing and damp and glorious. The air is cleaner. My allergies are happier. But that's secondary to the fact that the air is pleasantly cool-and-damp, the daylight is beautifully softened, the weather is so pleasant.

(Yes, I know. Not everyone agrees. I've listened every summer, this one included, to the sun-lovers gloating about weather that makes me unhappy, now it's my turn again.)

I am not looking forward to the winter that follows but I do love this time of year. I have never been a big fan of the heat and humidity that we frequently have here in the summer and the past couple of weeks have been wonderful. The next couple of months before winter sinks it's teeth in should be pretty nice too.
