It's beautiful out, today. It's cool and rainy, a soft rain, the kind that doesn't even really need an umbrella. I suspect it will get heavier later in the day, which frankly sounds just glorious right now.

I'm so much happier and more comfortable when it's cool, cloudy, preferably rainy. Today is going to be wonderful, I think. Actually, from the current forecast, this whole week is. Rain, rain, showers, showers...okay, only partly cloudy on Saturday, but that's good for all the people who like rain-free weekends. (What are they doing in Oregon??)

Anyway, my compile's just finished, so off to deal with that and the rest of my day...whee!

Ooooof.

I was emailed this morning to be on a conference call. The email was set at 9:35 and the call was at 10:00. Excuse me? Eek!

Then I get on it and we have some guy who dialed into it from a VERY STATICKY mobile phone. Oh it's hard to hear anything with that static over the line....

He seems to have it under control now - or left the call, I dunno which. :)

I'm listening, really I am. *goes back to that*

He called at 5:30 last night and left voice mail asking me to call him today about wording he's going to put in a memo he will hand to the client tomorrow.

But he didn't just email me the memo. No, no, that would be too easy. No, he just said he needed to talk to me.

So fine. Any time today will do; I have some stuff to do for an east-coast person that may need to be mailed, hence would have to be done early today. Therefore, I start on it. Then I get sidelined into that conference call. An hour and fifteen minutes later, I get out of the conference call to find he has left me another message with the same data, sounding for all the world as if he thought his first message had gone into the ether.

Argh. Look, give me more than 24 hours warning if you urgently need my time, and if you give a general time-frame ("tomorrow") with no limitations, don't be surprised if I don't call you the first minute in that time frame. Yeesh!

Also, another project manager is apparently still trying to push through an impossible (well, okay, VERY difficult and time-consuming, of a sufficient scope to derail all other projects) change for her client, a change that was not in the spec or contract or anything. (Well, it was in their request list....) Gah. Feh.

"...so we can make sure everyone has a nice handout they can lose later."

And, from the guy on the mobile phone (turned out he pulled over for the call, and eventually found a quieter spot):

"I'm not sure which is more dangerous: driving with the phone in your ear, or sitting at the side of the road in *."

* City name removed. I'm sure we all can think of an appropriate place, anyway....

Tonight was okay. After work-stress during the day, I took too long to settle down by far. Had a bit of rp that was okay, and vegged on the www.

And now I'm tired, because it's late, and I need sleep. On the other hand - I didn't get much done, but at least I'm ready to face tomorrow and deal with work. Eek.
