I know they've said caffeine is bad for you, but boy, am I suddenly glad I don't like coffee. Heh. "Decaffeinated coffee may raise women's risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis, according to the findings of two studies presented here Tuesday at the American College of Rheumatology's annual meeting."

Well, that was...somewhere between amusing and annoying.Heh. The doctor got the lenses in my eyes.

It took him about 10 minutes, but he got them in....

Yes, he had my eyes held. Yes, my blink outdid his fingers. Repeatedly. Poor guy.

At least I don't feel so stupid for not being able to deal, now.

Then I had to keep them in for 15 minutes. She couldn't find a good match for my left eye (astigmatism vs. near-sightedness), so I had one that was (he told me) a little too strong. Ugh. I walked around the mall for 10 minutes, stared at my face in a mirror (actually, I like it better with glasses, probably because I'm used to it that way - though to be fair, as I said, not the right prescription, but it was clearer anyway).

Looked good overall, they've placed the order for my proper prescription, and walked me through getting the lens out (annoying) and back in (more annoying, but I finally found - based on what it took him to get it in - a trick that lets me do it - namely, stare toward whatever side is toward my nose for that eye, and put it in almost on the iris - almost right - then move the eye till it settles in).

My left eye (which was the practice one this time) is very irritated. Add this to the achy muscles (since it was the one with the prescription off) and I am not a happy camper.

I came home with those lenses, just to put them in and out. No real wearing them till I have a pair that matches my eyes better. Oh, good. I'd have to hurt someone otherwise.... Of course, this all took longer than I'd anticipated (when will I learn?) but it's done.

You know how it is, things go wrong, but you're dealing fine. And then that one thing, usually something simple and stupid, comes along and you just...have...had...it?

My "poach your eggs in the microwave" thingy, wtih the latch, unlatched. I have egg splattered all over the inside of the microwave and, correspondingly, a lack of egg to eat.

And I am ignoring it. It can sit there. I am not dealing with it till I've calmed down. Ugh.

Actually, maybe it's especially the simple things that are annoying, since they ought to be simple....

I decided earlier to blow it off.

Then I forgot about it, and wouldn't've remembered to go if I hadn't decided to blow it off.

I might go back next week, but...honestly, I might not. It wasn't worth that, really. I guess I just fulfill the instructor's theory that anyone who misses more than one week without warning probably doesn't come back.

Oh, well.
