This time we did Wilsonville-Tualatin-Tigard-Sherwood. Not in that order. The top three in Sherwood were all we took time for. They all had hidden drawbacks.
(I especially liked the one that had a flimsy fence between it and an in-use set of train tracks. The sign said the train came by at 2 and 7 pm every day, "slow and nostalgic". This would be why three of them went by (at about 2:30 or so in the afternoon) while we were there, almost shaking the house. Mmm-hmmm.
I like trains. A lot. But not that close to my house.)
We found a really nice one in Wilsonville (with a creek and protected greenspace behind - a nice soft babble like you get on those expensive new age tapes, right in our backyard), a nice one in Tigard (nice layout, pretty windows, very forested 1/3 acre lot, really pretty and tranquil, tree coming up through deck - either impressive or quite hazardous, anyway). One decent one in Tualatin, large, but a bit expensive and the lot, while nice, didn't measure up to the other two. It also had one group of people in ahead of us, and one behind: popular house, apparently.
Next weekend I'm on pager. The weekend after that, we'll go back to them (any that are still on the market) and compare. The two from today are about $20k more than the ones from Oregon City last weekend. But in Wilsonville and Tigard, they're a lot closer to work, too, for each of us. And they're nice houses. We'll see how they stack up in a one-on-one comparison.
And meanwhile, I'm home. I like this place. It's not where I want to live forever, but it's nice, and it's home.
(The place by the creek is wired for ethernet, with cables in the walls. I dunno if Scott liked that more, or the fact that it was so close to his work.)
