For a limited time, in celebration of its birthday, LiveJournal is selling permanent accounts again. If you think you're going to pay for 4 years anyway, and you can afford it, it's a good deal. There's some other stuff going on, too, see here:

The top 20 support volunteers got permanent accounts if they didn't already have them, which I thought is really cool - they have very much earned that status!

Me? I just bought mine, what can I say. ;) I help out, but not so much I'd expect to earn one any time soon (even if it weren't sort of whim and will when it's given out to volunteers), so that seemed the way to go.

This is my week to be on after-hours all week, not just the weekend. And I'd forgotten.

Bother, and bother, and bother.

Oh well. I didn't have any plans to go anywhere anyway, so....

"Is there any reason you haven't upgraded to service pack 6 on these machines?"

"Oh, absolutely!" *pause as they frown slightly, their IT hearts wanting it to be up to date, or maybe just envisioning customers with SP6* "Because we're lazy!"

They're upgrading them. (Hey, SP 4 is sufficient for our testing, and the machines can't get out to the internet, don't run email, etc. We're lazy. What can we say?)
