One of my coworkers went on a "baking spree" (his words) last night. We have two strawberry pies and a raspberry pie in the break room, because he felt like it.

It's also supposed to hit 92 today. Color me less than thrilled, but oh well. At least it's supposed to cool off by the weekend. (House does not have AC. Work does. Better it be over-hot on the weekdays....)

I'm a bit tired. Last night was hot enough that we slept with the fans going and the window open - which meant, with the blind up because otherwise it made so much noise (blowing from the fan) that we couldn't sleep. Result: at 5:30 this morning, I was awake, because the sunrise was coming right in my window.

I do not normally get up until an hour or so later, most days....

That's okay. The day should mostly get better from here, as long as I remember to set the fans up right when I get home.

Y. was trying to keep me out of this meeting (which I really needed to be in, unfortunately), and since he thought he'd succeed, he didn't warn me when it was.

So at 8:30 I was told I was in a meeting. That meeting ate up, oh, just shy of four hours of my day. Also, since I hadn't anticipated and had to go straight away, I forgot about my antihistamine (which I normally take at 9 when a reminder pops up). So I didn't take it on time, in fact, I saw the reminder so late that it was past my "oh, just skip it" deadline.

1. The meeting went past when I normally eat lunch (I eat it early), but I have now eaten.
2. The meeting itself was very productive.
3. I obviously needed the antihistamine today. The front of my face feels like it may fall off. I'm taking a decongestant in the hopes that it won't persist to the degree that I want it to fall off.

But, the meeting was productive, so in the sense of feeling good about getting stuff done, I'm pretty happy with the day. And having lunch fixed that problem. It's just the sinus thing now.

...by 2:15, despite the decongestant, which should've cleared it up by then if it was going to. I came home, which resulted in "ack it's hot"...but actually helped the sinuses, and fans helped the hot. I still feel stuffed up and icky but, after resting and adding caffeine, heat (however inadvertently), and lack of attempt to think for a while to the list of cures, it seems to be at a dull roar at least.

This is good; now I can take advantage of this laptop and get some more work done.

I created a list last night, of things I want to do that I never seem to get around to. And I allocated them an amount of time on a given day (or, usually, days) of the week. With the promise to myself that no more than 1 hour could be taken on a weekday evening, so I will still have lots of free free time those nights.

We'll see if that helps my perpetual "I'm so overcommitted that I never get to any of these things" state, or if it just produces meltdown. I've already told myself that days I'm sick don't count; I'm going to try to get tonight's done, because it's not that bad and is stuff I want to do, but if I don't? Oh, well. I lost a couple hours to that sinus whatnot, as far as being totally useless for any "real" task, so....

The evening didn't go too bad. I got things done, and my head has stopped even hurting a bit, though I'm still stuffed up. I think I'll take another decongestant before bed tonight as lying down tends to make it worse. I got some work done so, basically, I put in a full day, just not all at once and not all at the office.

Still hot, but comfortably so. Fans are lovely things.
