Today was pretty decent, all things considered, as was yesterday. Yesterday continued good after my previous entry - working on getting story sorted out so my cat-character at Ashes can come back into play, which would be good. Also, hanging out with friends and chatting, extra-nice.
Fidgeted with fountains a little, didn't really get anywhere. Not pleased with my decoration attempts. Took some photographs (sunrises, sunsets) that were decent. Trying to decide if any are good enough that I want to post them up here.
Finished reading the book Scott passed on to me when he finished it, Curt Benjamin's Prince of Shadow. I enjoyed it; it was good. It's just a little heavy-handed in the 'epic' scope by the end (and earlier, if you catch the foreshadowing), and I am not sure if I'm going to like a story that wavers on the border of myth and fiction and can't seem to decide which flavor it wants to hold. No; I'm not sure if I'll be able to love it. I like it; it's fun, it's good, it's intriguing. But it's just a hint predictable here and there. Part of that is natural; the hero is not the quickest to understand nuances that readers of fantasy will recognize at once. But it goes beyond even that, and I'm not sure why.
I like it. I'm not sure it's more than that or recommend-able though.
As far as the candleholder my parents got me, I love it; the cats look warm and comfortable when the candle's lit. I think I'll burn the pillar in one of the holders I have for that, because if I tried to use the cats, they'd get wax on them and I don't want that. I definitely want to enjoy the beeswax pillar, however. :) Very happy.
Also, got bills paid, so that's one less thing to fuss about. Still have to vote in the special election about the state income tax, but, that has another week on it and one of the drop-off points is, for pity's sake, the library about a mile from my house. NOT worried about having to mail that one to hit the deadline. :)
All in all, a productive day; and tomorrow, I give up this after-hours cell. Though it really has been quiet. I did get a call today. It turned out they hadn't rebooted the third-party machine that gives them so much trouble, though. I suggested they try that and call back if that didn't fix it. Last we heard of the matter. If that little monster locks up and stops sending me stuff, there's not a single thing I can do about it, after all.
Not up too much longer. Have a site to check in at, and after that I go to beeeed.
