Meh. What a day. Got stuff done at work; everyone on my team has had their review now. Pretty happy with what I'm getting done there, though trying to test and review one piece of code that is NOT cooperating. Ah, well.

Today was horridly hot. Hottest day so far this year; recorded 88 degrees downtown. Ugh. I hate hot weather. It feels like summer and I am oh so not happy about that. I was going to exercise today, and now I am not, as right now my main option is to go for a long walk outside. Lessee, slightly out of shape or feeling truly awful...duh. Hopefully I'll get the keycard issue straightened out at work soon and have a good alternative.

On the way home, however, there was some very polite-driver moments. Awful traffic day. Awful, awful: memorial day weekend, Friday, between four and five, and so very hot. Accidents. Freeways backed up everywhere. I made it to Tualatin exit and then cut over 65th, which helped. Taking 65th takes you through an intersection near Atfalati park, where some other road T's into 65th at a three-way stop (all stop signs).

The traffic heading back the other way was backed up to the intersection, courtesy of the awful freeway most likely. And the people making left turns from the entrance road did not turn into the intersection and sit there blocking it, but let those of us who were passing through unrelated to the traffic jam do so, which was much appreciated.

Just before (like, not even 50 feet before) 65th tees into Stafford, Elligsen tees into 65th. In that case, Elligsen has a stop, 65th doesn't (either direction) but because it's so close to Stafford, it tends to back up. I got there as someone made a right turn from E to 65th. And there was a guy waiting to left turn onto E. I had nowhere to go except into the intersection and block him, so I stopped and waved him through. He waved back. The line moved as he was turning, and the guy waiting at E started to go...and then stopped, and let me in. And then, in a further show of being nice spreading, the guy behind me (who completely had right-of-way to barrel on through behind me) stopped and waved to the guy who had let me in to turn in behind me. So it ended up acting as an all-way stop but it worked really well.

I'm not used to seeing drivers cooperate that much, but it is nice when it happens.

The new part of the office is looking better and better. I like the new wall color that was chosen. I'm not so fond of the carpeting (it's paler than our present, and I like the darker blue), but it's okay. As soon as they get, you know, the doors and outlets done, it will be nice. It will be especially nice because once I move into that office, the moving is over for me! Yay!

Overall pleased with the outcome of totalling the car. Could have done without Scott being in an accident, but. Her insurance company is paying us more than I would have even dreamed of getting in trade-in, probably twice what we could have gotten at least. So. Now we just have to find a new car.

1. What brand of toothpaste do you use?

Aquafresh. It's not that I have a particular like or dislike for most toothpaste brands. It's just that that's what's most affordable at Costco last time we ran out of toothpaste.

2. What brand of toilet paper do you prefer?

Whatever's affordable at Costco.]

3. What brand(s) of shoes do you wear?

I don't remember - I get them all at Payless Shoe Source, so they're on the cheap side. I tend to get my shoes dirty, bedraggled, and unevenly worn, so spending a lot of money doesn't help that much.

4. What brand of soda do you drink?

Vanilla Coke; Sprite.

5. What brand of gum do you chew?

Trident, and also Wrigley's juicyfruit. (Also aquafresh dental gum, but I'm not sure that counts.)

I am slowly dying of the heat tonight. I am whinier than anything and keep going back down to the kitchen for cold liquids and ice packs. (Yes, I'd survive without them. I'd be whinier and more miserable, though. My body does not like heat and I overheat easily.)

I noticed something, as I got my glass out this time, that I have not noticed in the whole bloody year we've lived here.

My kitchen cupboards have adjustable shelves (and I have confirmed that the similar cupboards in the master bath do also). This means that if I can find shelves the right length, I can easily add them (the pegs are very standard, easy to match plastic thingies).

There's no shortage of storage space in our kitchen, but there's less than I'd like in some specific areas, and it all has to do with tall shelves and shallow contents.

Oh yes, I'm pleased. Very, very, very slow to notice things, but pleased.
