So the Costco in Wilsonville also has a gas station, which we haven't had through them before. At 12 cents cheaper than the station nearby that I normally stop at, it's a winner, in spite of the very annoying payment rules. They will take a Costco credit card, an American Express, a debit card, or a Costco cash card.
Fortunately, I have a debit card. You have to be a member anyway, so I suppose picking up one of the above is not impossible, but the debit card is the only one I actually have. It'll serve. It's nice of them to not clearly post that (they do have it posted, but the sign is not easy to read from inside your car; the part about not taking cash is easier to read).
Then to the library, to pick up second books in two series: First Rider's Call (600+ pages) and The Sea Lark's Song (500+ pages), both 14-day loans and hardcovers. I certainly wanted them both, but a week apart on the delivery would have been fine by me....
I've started reading the first. It's very, very good. Do not read the inside cover plot stuff 'til later. It doesn't spoiler deep into the book as far as I can tell (I think I'd seen everything it covers, by page 100 or so), but it does sharply spoiler a couple of funny and/or dramatic moments. I really hate the people who write those teasers but have never learned not to give too much away. (Of course - chapter 1 is not usually an offense - unless you spoil the surprise, blast it....)
One challenge ended with an ick score for me (not as bad as it could have been, not as good as I wished). Another has started. I am sure the score will even out. I got an 8 as my first vote and was up near 7 the last time I checked, but with 5 voes that's not exactly diagnostic. *wry grin* I'm hoping it will stay above 6, I'd be happy if it stayed above 5, but I really really wish I tought 6.8 was diagnostic of where it was going.
I'm dubious. I like the shot, but not as much as I liked some others that have done worse. (Of course, that may be a recommendation on this site...we shall see. :)
Current challenges are The Future (I am ignoring it as I have no ideas), Inside Looking Out (trying to think of ideas), and Desolation (I wonder if I can get up to the spot I'm thinking of in Portland...).
