No resolutions here. I tend to break them anyway, within, oh, hours or days of making them depending on how long it takes to fully break them....

Quiet, pleasant night at home. Happy new year, I gobed now.

It's snowing again this morning. I woke up and looked out the window before my contacts were in and all the ground was white, and I thought, ooo, it snowed overnight.

Yes, it did. And it is snowing now. It is not thick by others' standards but it's thick enough by ours. It's beautiful and fine and I've nowhere to be but here, enjoying it.

Happy, happy, happy new year. A white new year is as good as a white Christmas. Maybe it's an omen that there will be much beauty in the new year, since it has started off with it.

I've not yet uploaded the vacation photos. There are a lot of them and it will take me a bit to do so. But I've added four to my snow collection. The new ones are the last four - two showing my neighbor's tree that fell, one showing another neighbor's house in the snow looking very festive and seasonal, and one just showing the area along the creek because I thought it looked vaguely neat. They may all go away at some point along with the rest of the collection, they're not so much art as something to share, if that makes sense.

According to the forecasters, the rain will wash away all this snow this afternoon.

It's still snowing.

I am (happily) beginning to wonder if it might not be the case.

The branches on the tree across the creek - the lower ones - are sagging ominously. Otherwise it is holding up well. I think it would just brush my deck if it fell straight over toward the house, but it doesn't look like it wants to, just like its lowest limbs may end up detached.

The snow, as you may surmise from my subject line, is not going away. Indeed, more of it has been arriving. It's very pretty. Scott is over at Dale's gaming, and I'm hoping the roads are clearer than I suspect. Oh, I'm sure that - even on a holiday - the freeways have been cleared. And there aren't any bridges or overpasses (which were icing up during rush hour earlier this week and requiring constant deicing) on them between Dale's and here.

Of course, that's not the issue. The issue is the street Dale lives on, which slopes downhill away from the street Scott will want to turn onto. I'm very glad this is Scott (who, having lived in Wisconsin, is pretty decent with this sort of thing) and not me. I am capable of driving in this stuff. I am not exceptionally good at it, though, and I am well aware of this thought. I woudl be too scared to mess with the slope involved in that road - and I would not be able to judge reasonably whether I should be. (One thing I love about where we live is that there is a nearly-flat route between it and my workplace. I can deal with those. I can judge those. Slick hills scare me.)

But from where I am, not needing to go out? Oh, it is so very pretty.

Yes, I know it took forever. But they're now up. I think they're all good as vacation snapshots; I also think that in a few weeks or a month, I'll take most of them down and just put a few into my portfolio. I am very proud of getting fireworks photos that, while not perfect, are far above my last less than passable attempts.

Vacation photos.
