Saw Spiderman II tonight with Scott. There will be spoilers in this entry; they will be behind cut tags. If you're seeing this in a view that hasn't got them, that's your spoiler warning.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to go to this movie at all, because I'd read a few spoilers that concerned me )

So, I'm glad I had those spoilers as it affirmed my hopes for what the payoff would be, and it was. It was really, really cool, and everyone who said that it needed to be seen on the big screen was very, very right, as far as the special effects and such. I'm sure it will be nice when it comes to DVD, but it won't be the same effect.

This is not to say I don't have some minor commentary on things near the end, mind your step, spoilers ahoy )

But yes. Had a good time. Glad I went. Worth the money and even the time. Eye candy at the right moments, real story, and some very touching and funny moments that avoided cliche - for everything I could complain about, there are four or five things I could say were good. Well, I could if I had a memory less like swiss cheese, and if I wanted to concentrate for a while, and if you wanted me to spoiler the movie.

I won't say everyone will like this movie. But if you liked the first one, or you think you'd like this one, well - it lives up to the promise it makes, by being what it is.
