Onesome- Knit one: Do you have a crafty hobby? Knitting, stitching, scrapbooking or model building, whatever it is, tell us about it! Or is there a crafty hobby you'd like to take up if had the time and/or money to do so?

A crafty hobby? A? Well, yes and no. I do, but I don't have time to pursue any of them very often. Among the things I've done in the past and still have the supplies for, the two that I'm most likely to continue with are fountainmaking and beadwork. I'm tolerably good at beadwork; I can put together a beaded amulet bag and other pattern-work as well as simple necklaces. I'm not so great at fountainmaking; getting one that functions is easy, getting one that satisfies me? Hah! I've also done some mask-making and, by and large, not been pleased with the result, but you never know when I might take it up again.

I stink at sewing, though I always seem to intend to learn more, it never happens. I hated cross stitch (boring) and decorative painting (ditto and more trouble to clean up). Though I likely still have some of the supplies for each...I know I do have some of the painting stuff still. Sigh.

I don't think keeping a physical journal with occasional hints of scrapbooking, drawing, or the like really counts as a "crafty" hobby since it is almost all about the writing. But hey, why not mention it anyway.

Twosome- Purl: Or rather, pearl. What's your birthstone? And while you're at it, what's your sign? *g*

Garnet, Capricorn. (Or, for the joke approach, "Beware of Programmer.")

Threesome- Too: Too much? Have you had enough of the political coverage already? ...or are you waiting for things to really gear up in the Fall?

AUGH! I hate political coverage. I hate hate hate it. Mud-slinging and slant and careful choice of what to show...and this three-ring circus that is the American political scene this year is aggravating. I hate Bush; I like Kerry better but the man is far from perfect; and what I really want is a do-over with all-new candidates.

And a shorter "election season". Why do I have to listen to these yapping commercials (they even hit the radio, though I'm ever so glad I don't watch TV) for so bloody long no less?

The laptop's not set up. I've borrowed Scott's desktop (the keyboard of my desktop being buried under a welter of crap) to write this, because I don't feel like setting up the laptop to write a single post.

I think I may go insane. I'm sure I want to go out, and will do so in a moment. Tonight may be a hotel night.

You see, they've masked off the house for painting. Including plastic over everything. Which means no AC. Which I knew would happen, but, it's hotter'n predicted (a tiny bit). Ugh. And to add insult to injury, I mean they masked off everything. When I pulled up, they had a ladder across the driveway (not set up - laid out, blocking it). Thing one, I asked them to do the front in the morning (when it's in the shade anyway) so I would be able to park when I got home. I hate parallel parking. They agreed. I told them I get off work between 4 and 6. At 5 I get home and there's this ladder. So I parallel park (and hey, I'm well-parked, but I scraped the tire a bit doing it). Then I say, "This will be interesting."

The guy out front with his crap says "What?" and I say "Well, I do want to get in."

At which point he goes, "Oh, you only have the one door, don't you?" Yes. the one you have covered in plastic. Ninny. Good thing I had the garage door opener with me, and good thing you hadn't somehow kept me from getting to the damned garage door, but I am not amused. So I have crept into my house via the garage door, deposited the groceries in the fridge, and now I shall collect my camera and a few things to do and go back out. It's hot and stifly in here and I'm very annoyed at the painters.

I like the new color of the house, really. Watery. Sort of green in sunlight, sort of blue in shadow, very pretty so far (one side of the house remains to be done tomorrow). I spent two hours out of the house after my last post - nice cool time at Fry's and the library - and got back to find that I could use my front door again. The upstairs was still an oven but the downstairs was okay and Scott brought down the tornado fan, which helped immensely.

As I type this, they are cleaning up the masking and now I must go see about getting the AC started, so no hotel needed tonight. Thank goodness.

Oh. And there are a couple of so-so photos (it was early evening and the light was not ideal, and this is for color, fooey!) up at Buzznet.
