Home from Gencon. In the wrong time zone and sleep shot all to heck in that time zone anyway, as usual. :) Had a good time overall, but must rethink my gaming strategy in future years as I have gotten too eager to try new things and extended it to further chances for genres I don't enjoy. I still don't enjoy them.

This was the con of the vanishing game. I ditched a game one night as I wasn't feeling well and it wasn't seeming fun after an hour (apologetically, but I did), dropped another (same system as previous), and had two games cancelled. None of the ones I really cared about got lost, though. Immortal was fun and Deliria, as expected, rocked.

Not pleased with the Westin, probably not staying there again.

Picked up Runebound, the Fireborn GMs guide (which I have yet to read, this is not an endorsement, just a sign of rabid purchasing), some free dice (sigh, sucker for free dice, right here), and a book of [livejournal.com profile] nenethomas's artwork. *bounces* And I pre-ordered Everyday Heroes for Deliria, after getting to look at the copy they had. Scott picked up some other things, also, but I've forgotten what other than the Imp Game.

More details later, once I've eaten and found my coherence (probably in that order as the food is heating and I think my coherence is still wandering lost through Houston airport, so that part may take a while). Con started off poor and got steadily better; Saturday and Sunday were wonderful!

Imapix at Flickr has put up a set of hot-air balloon photos.

On a different note, a backlit rose is a lovely thing.

A picture of The Zipper! This is only somewhat a pretty (it's a great photo of the ride, but it's still a photo of a ride) but it's here because I loved to ride on the Zipper when I was younger (and insane). (For those not familiar with it: the axis rotates around its center. The cars move around the axis on a chain. And the cars flip around their midpoint as you can see in the image. You can, with the right timing, flip a car ten or more times in a row without pausing - though the car has to be placed to tip over the end of the axis at the right moment, as well as have a rider who is willing to work hard to rock it and start the sequence.)

The featured photo I saw when I went to the "explore" page.

Also, poppies!

This is not all the good quotes, only the ones I managed to write down. Several came from a table adjacent to our Deliria game on Sunday, rather than from a game I was in. Twice, they caused our Deliria table to stop, turn, look, and then applaud.

"I summoned a rock. A demon rock!"

"The monkeys are quite unimpressed."

"God damn it, this is the second giant monkey to climb the Empire State Building this year!"

"Don't worry. When your courage runs out, I'll be right there. Pushing you toward the danger in front of us."

"Plus one field mice?"

"I was getting a bad feeling just from the bones...." (After being told we got a bad feeling from the way the bones were moving/making noises/etc.)
