Karen Miller, The Innocent Mage. Recommended by Amazon because I liked the Mistborn books by Sanderson. Failed utterly to grab my interest.

Karen Chance, Touch the Dark. Omigod the cliched cliches of cliches. The trope has been taken out back and strangled, here. Another Amazon recommendation. Since those are about a 25% hit rate, who's surprised when another one turns out to be not so good a match? Not I. Yet I still keep checking them out. Sigh.

Kate Elliott, Spirit Gate. She only managed to make me care about one character before I gave up, and that one we weren't destined to see much at all. Within a chapter and a half I suspected at least the main ending twist, but I didn't care enough to read the book. So I flipped to the end, and yes, I'd guessed it. For the record? If I see the punch-line coming, you so completely blew it. Because I don't notice things with subtle clues over the length of whole books. So if I spot it in a couple chapters, you telegraphed it with a cartoon anvil. This is the first book in what's supposed to be a seven-book fantasy series, of which only it's out so far, so I can't say I'm very upset that I didn't like it, either. ;)
