The front desk isn't staffed till 10 am. Incoming calls, therefore, shunt to a voice message that informs them they have reached this particular office of , blah, blah, to reach an operator press.... If they do, then they go to "all-call" which means they ring in every office. Four tries, then they get dumped in voice mail I think. So on the third ring, I wait a beat, and pick it up before the fourth ring. (This gives me better odds that someone else in the office will intercept the stupid thing - without leaving callers in limbo if no one does. Unfortunately, some people in my office have learned that the only way to get Laura to answer the all-call is to ignore it....)
"Good morning,, this is Laura."

Ooookie. First, you had to listen to a message telling you what office this was, to get to the number, to get all-call. So you should have known. Secondly, for pity's sake say it's a wrong number before you hang up on me, it's just polite.
But thirdly, hey, at least those are the easy calls.
