If you don't, be aware LiveJournal has switched to UTF-8. You can ignore this completely if you write in standard English with standard English characters, no foreign letters, no accents, no symbols, etc.

If you do use any of those items, or you see a ? where some other value should be in a post or userinfo, or you're not sure - check out this post in news regarding how to switch your past entries/user info/etc. appropriately by telling LiveJournal what encoding scheme you were using.

That goes a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnng way towards explaining why my browser started spontaneously switching to other encoding schemes (most of which were some variant on the Chinese language package). I was starting to worry that my new userpics were possessed or something.

*grins* Oh? Glad it was at least somewhat helpful. I figure that everyone who passes the word out that knows, will make for one (or ten) less support requests, and less confusion.

Monitoring news is generally a good idea, I could wish it were easier for the casual user to find out about it. (Personally, I think all new accounts ought to start with news and lj_maintenance friended, and be able to remove them if they want of course.
