On the one hand, the project we were trying to keep from slipping, slipped. On the other hand, we got a lot done toward trying to keep it from doing so.

On the other-other hand, this means a lot of pressure off of us....

The real problem with those statements is that by the time you get to the "other" hand it's always someone else who is probably going to get the problem anyway. So it's not like the speaker is still using their hands.... ;)
