I took another load of stuff over to the new house tonight. Stuff, stuff. Less here, more there, starting to look like I might find this desk before they need to move it.

I'd forgotten, till we started moving, how much I enjoy highway driving in the early part of the night, s'long as I'm awake. It's pretty, watching all the cars flow freely, and it feels freer and a bit distant from real life. Quite pleasant.

At the house, besides unloading, I stopped to just sit and enjoy. Turned the first-floor lights out, lifted the blinds, and stared out over a black-on-dark-grey rendering of a pasture. Settled myself in a rocking chair (on long-term loan from a friend - and much-appreciated tonight!) with a bit of root beer, and just was.

Turned on the gas fireplace for a bit, too.

I did make myself get back to unloading after that, but it was so peaceful and calming. A lot of the stress of the week (where I was tired, running from car-crisis to work-crisis to packing) just melted away. I felt relaxed without instantly feeling tired. I would have liked to go there earlier in the week and I think now it would have been good, but I was too exhausted at the end of the day to be safe driving, 'til now.

It felt good, all around.
