I was just dialing my own number to test that my vacation message was saved when my phone rang on the second line - so I quickly hung up to take the call.

Do I have to mention how stupid I feel? (On the plus side, now that I have called back, the message is good....)

You feel stupid? I had to read this twice to get it... Then I had a great laugh at both of us.

*giggles* Yeah. It made perfect sense - but the line went dead just as I grabbed it. I just stared at it, wondering why they hung up - I think it took a full second or two for my brain to work its way around to what had actually happened.

Well, you never know. What if you'd had an important message for yourself, and you didn't pick up? You'd have kicked yourself for missing your call, and be wondering all day what you'd been meaning to tell yourself, until you called yourself back, possibly too late for the message to do any good... Be grateful you avoided that.

*giggles* Ah, true. Even if I was so rude as to hang up on myself instead of holding the line, it was worth it to find out if I had anything I wanted to say.
