OK, so I'm easily spoiled. But now that I have this new USB card reader, I have this little problem. See, that leaves me with two important USB devices: the card reader, and a microphone headset that I use with ViaVoice. So I went out and bought a USB hub. Since I already was buying a hub, I went ahead and bought another adapter I'd been wanting to get, but not getting because it would mean paying for a hub as well. So now I can hook but once normal keyboard and mouse up to the USB controller on my laptop, since my laptop doesn't have a normal mouse and keyboard plug ins. I can now use my Glidepoint with my laptop. (But now I need a keyboard I like - the ones we have are in use and I'm not that fond of them anyway.)
Technically speaking, this is really very minor thing, but I'm still very pleased with it --and I still have a slot free for a USB device. Any suggestions?
Actually, if I can't resolve the networking problems on my local network--which are really driving me quite insane at this point, actually-- then I'll go ahead and get a USB CDRW or USB hard drive. I'm favoring the idea of the CDRW right now. Sadly, my computer only supports USB 1. However, the hub supports 2, and if I ever do update the laptop or get a new laptop which supports it the hub will continue to be useful.
At any rate, color me pleased. I have my toys.
