Blergh. Went well overall. Now, real details. Lessee. Got to the airport way early today because R's flight was well before mine. Neat new trick: delaying the crew's flight.
So, seriously. About 2:30 pm Eastern, sitting in Logan airport, I wrote this:
I worked on teh computer 'til 1, when I got restless and had the battery down to 25%. I may take it out on the second flight and wear it down to 5% or so. (Ed.: I didn't.)
Got a couple work documents done. It's raining here; we got here about 11 - R's flight being 1:15 or so, and a rental car to return. Mine's not until 3:00 and we should be boarding, but they don't have a crew right now.
I'm actually exhausted - I got a call from another site, priority, last night, and it woke me up (at midnight). Then I had nightmares when I did get back to sleep. If this flight leaves more than half an hour late, I may be in trouble. My connection in Newark is an hour, though, so I do have some leeway. The half-hour one on the way out was pushing it arriving on time. Well, not badly, but it meant a rush to arrive before boarding finished.
They say our crew is on the ground, but not here yet. they expect us in the air at 3:15, so only 15 minutes of delay. That will leave me fine, if so. I'm tired, I want to cry, I really hope I don't get stuck here or there, so the estimate's a good start, but I'll feel better when the plane's in the air, you know?
[4:50 pm]
Arrived on time despite the late departure. I'm at the departure gate for the next flight. They'll probably start boarding soon; no announcements of it being late or anything. I slept through most of the last flight. (Quote of the day: "This is flight blah to Newark. If your travel plans do not include Newark, New Jersey, please see a flight attendant immediately, or they will soon.") I don't actually remember anything after takeoff, not climbing, nothing, and I came to as we were well into our descent.
I'm tired and woozy. Part of it's probably the mid-day nap, I feel grouchier now. But also a bit wheezy on the breathing. I didn't run this time to the gate, but I did walk briskly. Am I that out of shape? Bah. This airport is less painful, but no more attractive, at a walk than at a run, though.
I'm glad this will be a dinner flight, as I'm starving. Hopefully they'll board us soon.

Right, so that was my notes from the flight. Basically, I read to stay awake until they fed us on that flight. I've missed meals before, from sleeping through them, and I was starving. It was edible; the only other thing interesting/amusing about it was that the choices were "beef and noodles" or "chicken and lasagna". I ordered the latter, and found that the food, while good, was not going to win presentation awards. Open the little tray, and there is lasagna side-to-side, and set atop it, looking rather out of place, a piece of herbed chicken. For some reason this amused me greatly....
And then I was out like a light, though I woke up a whole 15 minutes before landing.
Oh, and a quote from the flight out there on Friday, that I don't think I ever posted. We were sitting in the Portland airport at the gate, and boarding time arrived...and passed, and no open gate. Maybe 5 minutes after that, the gate agent comes on the speaker and says, "Folks, if you could look out the window, and raise your hand if you see a Continental jet there.... Well, we don't either."
And then went on to explain that they were towing ours in from some sort of storage area (first flight for it of the day) and were just a bit late. It showed up reasonably within time, and what was funny was how many people raised their hands as it was pulled up to the gate.
All out of order, but I'm home.

Next time you happen to have a stop in Newark, if it's scheduled for more than about two hours or so, let me know! I'll come out and hug you and take you for coffee. :)
