Work today was stressful and high-activity, but it was also exceedingly productive, so that's good. And I got out early (because I got there early and it's been a verrrrrrrrrry long week, trust me), so I was able to stop at Costco before the after-hours duty started. Which means, um, that we have enough stuff to feed us through mid-April.... But, yeah. I "needed" the really good pot pies. And my fruit snacks. I probably did not need the large supply of cookies...oops.
Today has been gorgeous, more than living up to the start. It was pretty dark most of the morning and into early afternoon (it looked much earlier than it was, the clouds were that dark). Beautiful if you like rain, and storm-tossed trees. I do.
By four (when I left) it wasn't raining any more. Which is good; I left my umbrella in the office. Glad I have another one at home.... When I was coming out of Costco, the sun broke through the clouds, behind me, behind the building. The hills and the trees and everything was sun-touched, the green of new grass (or old grass; I think some of it just muddled through the weak winter we had) carpeting the undeveloped field, the still-dormant trees and evergreens, all sharply delineated, all touched in the warmth of evening sun....
...and behind them, the looming grey-on-grey of stormclouds under more generic clouds, the sky darkly brooding and unlit in contrast to the light of the landscape below it....
Gorgeous. Just gorgeous. Now as I look out the window, everything is softened, the colors muted and greyed - though the trees across the way are fairly pink despite that effect. The sky is mostly storm-grey, with hints of paler grey - in the distance anyway - yet it's not raining here now.
A chilly day. A pretty day. A good one.
