Y'know, mostly I hate April Fool's pranks.

Sometimes, someone finds one that's funny. Today's so far have included one that was blah (the 'announcement' of a new edition of GURPS, based off miniatures, which could have inspired panic if it weren't too absurd to be believed for an instant), and one that's actively irksome.

No, actually, folks, it's not funny. I admit, it is also too absurd to be believed; but it's not funny. It means a day in which I won't see posts from some of my friends, and a massive Drama that I would have thought that you, of all people, were smart enough to see the potential damage from.

Oh, well. In the end, it's not doing me any particular harm, either. But it's not funny, and it's not really very wise, either. Me?

I'm going to spend today getting things done, as always. I'm a spoilsport on April Fool's day anyway; I've never liked the matter of pranks and misleadingness.

I stopped enjoying April Fool's Day back in university, actually. That's why I'm glad that most times it comes around, I'm asleep until it's over at 11am. ;)

I've heard a few that were funny - a student placing an ad in a business paper saying that his schoolbuilding was for sale, and to call this phone number (the principal's phone number) on April 1st. Written well so that it looked convincing, of course.

"Would the student who attempted to sell our school please report to the principal's office."

Another one that most people probably wouldn't get, but that I find deeply hilarious, is to tell everyone that you have a fantastic April Fool's joke to play. Spend a week hyping it up. Then don't do anything. April fool's! (Unfortunately it wouldn't actually be all that funny to do, but I like the idea :P)

And the best one I ever heard was a group who got the company webserver to change its output based on IP. They set it up to display porn banners when the boss checked it - no changes to anyone else, just the boss.

Most "jokes" just plain suck though. Too malicious, too annoying, too potentially bad.
