Dad sent me this link, along with an outtake. It's Orson Scott Card on the subject of the war in Iraq or, more precisely, on the subject of media coverage in the war on Iraq. He writes a bit about how war really works, and a bit about how stupid the media is for covering it as if it were a sporting event.
The latter comes first, and it's hysterical and well worth reading. Instead of just (as I would) saying they're overdoing it pointlessly and annoying, he gets into some fun comparisons. The first few paragraphs are this, the rest are analyzing how war works and strategy and stuff - up to "That's how it feels sometimes, watching the war coverage." is the more humorous portion.
Now, if only we could get some of the people doing this to read it...oh, wait. Then they wouldn't have very much to say again. :)
