I went out to my parents' house again (I'll be out of town Sunday to Friday, so wanted to drop in first). I definitely saw all four cats this time - Spot very briefly. Apparently he doesn't like me, strangers, or people. Not sure which. He blurred under the front porch really quickly as I got out of the car and walked over.

Basta was up on the vine-trellis again, but she came down for me. That descent is enough to shatter nerves (I'd say 'and the vine' except it seems to be fine with her plowing down through it...). It's definitely Babe that is letting me pet her, now that I know to check the ears. She and Basta were both quite pushy.

I'm no longer worried about the white hairs in the driveway last time. I forgot one key fact: it's spring. Babe dropped more white hairs, even in clumps, than that just from being petted. I got the brush out and applied it to both of them - Bast loved it, Babe tolerated. Basta, by the way, looks very silly with a clump of white fur adhering between her ears.

I didn't see Tips until I was going up the driveway to leave, when I saw a cat blur across the road and then saw her in the front yard, first ear-tips, then tail, then the rest of the cat as she stood up from her crouch. She didn't approach me - when I moved, she bolted - but whether or not the other cat I saw last time was Tips, this one definitely was - she was still and in good light and had the right markings.

I did bring my camera along this time, so there are some photos. Yay, photos! The first is Basta eyeing me when I first showed up. The second is a closeup of the lilac (I didn't take any with me this time, though it was tempting). The last is Babe and Basta together on the back porch. (Babe never faced the camera, unless she was trying to shove her head into it....)

Basta, peering warily down from her perch.

A bit of the lilac bush.

Basta and Babe on the porch.

Unfortunately, some of mom's plants aren't doing quite so well. I don't think the one that had fallen over last time is going to make it, even though it was upright this time. Two others look like they may be fading - and I don't know enough to fix it. Except I doubt the one should have been standing in so much water, so I emptied that out; the soil was plenty wet as it is. Over-watering may be their whole problem. :/

Thanks for checking out the cats. Nice to know they're all still there. We're up in Michigan at the moment. Going to see Irene tomorrow, then back to Napoleon for Monday.

You have an amazing natural gift for photography. I'm always impressed with the photographs that you put up in your diary, and your ability for composition. I hope maybe you can work photography into your professional life, because you really have an amazing gift. Keep them coming - I love looking at them.
