I was going to leave work at 4:30 and drive up to the Japanese Gardens to get evening photos of Portland from there. Well, first they scheduled a conference call at 4:00 on me. I got out at 5 (after followup to the call, got off the call at quarter till).

And then I spent, kid you not, 25 minutes getting up to the I-5/217 interchange. (Not counting time until I turned out of the parking lot there, by the way. Just driving time.) Then it took me 20 minutes to get up 217, which is a way longer portion of the drive....

Heard later there'd been an accident on 217 at the 99W exist (second exit in) about 4:45. If I'd left on time I'd've missed it all.... As it is, it took so long to get to that point, the accident was gone when I got there and I was clueless till Scott's gaming buddies told me when I got home.

But it was still only just after 6 by the time I got to the Gardens, and the view was gorgeous. We'll see if the photos came out, but it was lovely and peaceful and glorious.

And then the drive back....Okay, even 217 is not usually that backed-up at nearly 7 pm. Then I stopped for gas as I was running low. Costco gas. Their price is, as usual, markedly better. Mmmm, lines.

But it worked. And I got home in time for gaming-party pizza, so...yeah.

Now to see if the photos came out.

Ugh, traffic. At least you got to the game OK, right?

Yeah... I remember that. As much as I love to visit my family over the holidays, I can't stand the traffic there. I sometimes catch myself grumbling about traffic here in Iowa and then I realize what I'm doing. I usually end up pointing and laughing at the countrified me that could forget the exponential difference between the traffic here and there.

I guess Oregon traffic is better than Denver or Orlando, but that thought doesn't help much.
