Oh my. It poured today, the rain just coming down left and right. When I left work, it was raining but not quite as hard, but I still wanted my umbrella and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Of course, being a proper Oregonian, I had not needed it in the light rain going in to work, so I had to walk out without it and get rather wet anyway. Such is life.

Work went fairly well today. Weekends count as part of the week after, so I ended up hitting 40 hours sometime this morning. Oh, well. Got quite a bit done, and D was up today fixing our lab. (Well, he fixed a machine, and called the right person to fix another. The one with the hardware failure spontaneously behaved. It had been refusing to boot, not even giving a beep code. He pressed the power button and it came right up. Augh! He checked it over, but....)

Gorgeous rain. Stopped at Fry's on the way home for a new UPS, as the one that was handling our network hardware was semi-fried. It beeped in the middle of the night, I think, but not long and hard - just a brief protest. This morning, every bit of hardware was out. It would not reset. The surge protection side still gave power, the battery side didn't. Not so amusing. So right now we are using surge protection only, but later, we'll (Scott will, becasue he is nice that way) take the new one and put it into use. I'm not real confident of the amount of surge protection left in a device that won't deliver power from half its sockets.

Still want various techie toys, still don't want to pay what they cost. (MP3 player, drawing tablet, external DVD+/-RW.... But I want them as minorly amusing toys, and the prices aren't low enough for that yet.)

Excitement, I know, almost unbearable levels of excitement. Life's good, though, even if the story of it's a bit bland, today. ;)
