Well, I saw the dermatologist this morning. He's pretty sure it's just a normal mole that got irritated, but, it's on my back where I can't watch it / monitor it. Sooo - off it comes anyway.
The first mole I had off was on my arm, and they did a punch biopsy. Second was on my stomach and was cut off. This one's on my back and got scraped. No more painful than the other techniques, and no stitches, so that works. I've now had them removed all the ways that leave material for a biopsy (which they will be doing, and letting me know). Color me thrilled. It doesn't hurt much but it sure does itch right now.
Didn't go anywhere/do anything today, except to get frames for some photographs I'd had printed from dcprints. I wanted to come home and be lazy and all that, but will probably go somewhere either tomorrow or Sunday. We'll see. There's no rule that I have to run all over everywhere just because I can and am not on call, after all.
Didn't order Deliria. I was going to, but I tried to do it through my (un)friendly local gaming store to support them. End result: no book, no longer wanting to support the store, and in the meanwhile GenCon pre-reg opened and I signed up for a game of it. If I like it, I'll buy it then, and they can just wait.
I called the (u)FLGS, gave them all the info I had including the distributors' names, and waited a week and a half before calling them back. When I called them back, they said, oh, we couldn't order that, it's not in any of our distributors' catalogs. So why didn't you just call me?? Then they said they'd try again since I knew the names of the distributors - which they'd already had, mind - and they said they'd call back that same day if they weren't able to order it, otherwise, they'd call when it came in, probably Friday.
So on Friday I didn't hear from them and Monday - last week - I called them again. And was told, oh, they hadn't ordered that yet, but they would right then, and let me know if they couldn't get it; at the same time, she referred to it as a 'figurine', despite the fact that I'd said it was an RPG and identified the publisher. Um, guys? Hello? I let them try once more and was told it would be three weeks before the distributor had it, did I want to order and wait?
Hell, no. I would never know if you placed the order or when it might come in. Forget this crap. If I hadn't signed up for it for Gencon, I'd just order it from their web site, which is apparently what I should have done at the outset, but by now I'm irritated (not really their fault!) and have had time to have second thoughts (like, "$40 is a lot and what if I don't like it?"), so I will wait and try it out at Gencon.
This is immensely unfair to the game; it has nothing to do with the game; and had my local gaming store not made a joke entirely of my attempt to buy the book through them, and thereby support them, had they simply said, "Nope, sorry," at the outset - I would have ordered the book from the web site before I did the Gencon signups.
I have the suspicion that all I am doing is cheating myself out of a few months of enjoying a game. But, having now signed up for that, and having a sour experience associated with the game (even if it is not at all the game's fault!), I find myself inclined to wait. I may change my mind again about that, and order it online, but...it's a lot of money. I'd need to know more from people who've read it or played it, have opinions from friends, etc.

If I do not get it from Gencon, or can't wait that long, I will order it via a local store, then. But probably not Ancient Wonders.
(I would love to hear your opinions/impressions of it, by the way, if you care to share.)
