Today was not bad. The class went okay at work, things got done. I'm a bit tired. I was a bit tired all day. Still, I think we'll get through everything and finish early. Two more days and the class is over (at most - we may finish partway thru Thursday). I don't enjoy teaching, and any time I have trouble with a point, I feel stupid, in spite of the fact that I know a whole lot and have covered a lot of stuff. Sigh.
Blah.
I still have pictures from the Japanese Gardens last Thursday that I've not uploaded. Must remember to do that. Scott and I rented Peter Pan (the latest one) to watch tonight. We made it maybe 10 or 15 minutes in at most, maybe less, before I bailed. I'm sorry, I don't care if it's supposed to be fun or Peter's supposed to be cute or whatever, watching Wendy be continuously embarrassed for most of the first part was making me miserably uncomfortable. It didn't seem to want to tell a story I wanted to hear, just constantly jerk her around and humiliate her. Whatever they've done with that story, I leave it to other people. I want no more to do with it, I found the part I watched entirely nasty.
So, instead we came upstairs and read books together. *laughs* That worked better. I was rereading a book, actually, specifically Shatterglass which I knew I would enjoy a reread of. And now it's time for a shower and bed, and then another day of teaching at work. Sigh. I like these people, I like the system, I do not like trying to teach all of this. I feel like there should be better ways to communicate the info, I feel like there should be less lecture, but no one is asking questions, and there's a lot of material to cover. Fooey. I don't really know what I'm doing for this, and I hate doing it. I really do.

Regarding Peter Pan...
I didn't really pick up on Wendy being humiliated, per se, though the story's always been about her being chided by her elders and told to grow up, so maybe I lumped it in with that. I actually thought Wendy was more of a tomboy than she was in the original sources, what with the running around swordfighting.
If you've still got the rental, though, I'd suggest fast-forwarding to the mermaids. The way they made them up is really, really neat. And the way they sound is nifty.
That's all. :)
Re: Regarding Peter Pan...
I didn't make it to the point where the letter from the school actually reached her father, because the whole movie was a train-wreck to that point and I knew if I watched any more I was going to end up MISERABLE.
I don't know if I have the rental or not (Scott got it, I haven't yet looked to see if it's still there). I may poke through it, if I do. But I don't intend to watch it.
