I went to the Gardens this morning, during members' hours. No photos; just walked around for a bit and enjoyed it. Then I went out to Craft Warehouse to wander and get some ideas. Got there just as they opened; they were having a sidewalk sale which was, quite predictably, crap and gave me no additional ideas. I did, however, get some stickers inside the store. I'm way too fond of stickers. I got off cheap, anyway. On the way from the Gardens to Craft Warehouse, I passed a Krispy Kreme - I hadn't realized there was one out Hillsboro way. It's very clearly visible from 26. It's also square between two exits; I've no idea how to get to it, and wasn't very hungry, so didn't bother even though I do like their donuts.
From Craft Warehouse, I drove up through Beaverton to Washington Square. This was harder than it sounds like, because there was some kind of craft fair or farmer's market or something with lots of white tents in the blocks around the new library, which I ignorantly drove right past. Traffic stank there. I was curious, but not curious enough to try to park - the parking was street-parking on either residential streets or the busy and narrow two-lane road (which was what was already making driving there interesting!). Picked up a few new shirts and some socks at Washington Square (ooo, the excitement), then came home by way of the grocery store and the library. Ooo, watch Laura buy bread and return her magazines.
The neighborhood is all over garage sales. (Once a year, they advert in the paper and everyone gets to have a sale with people drawn in by the paper, for one fee.) I'm almost never in a garage-sale mood and it only took a couple seconds of them for me to decide I still wasn't. Kept things busy around here!
The painters came out and power-washed the house. They won't paint it till the end of the month but they have a couple weeks of not being available, and wanted it to have plenty of time to dry, so.... Meanwhile, we just heard back from the homeowner's association and they don't like our color choice, it's too dark. So we need to make a lighter choice. Argh. They left a phone number, which I'd been lacking, though. That's vastly helpful. I hope we can get one of the paler but similar shades approved. Failing that, I'll ask for the okay to do the current shade again, as it is getting painted. Need to talk to Scott before doing this - he had to go into work today, and from there went to gaming, so I'll catch him in the morning and then one of us will call back the president of the association and see what we can do to hopefully get this sorted out quickly enough. I really would prefer one of the greeny or bluey shades to staying tan.
It's rather hot in here. We had to close all the windows for the power-wash, which meant taking the AC out of this one. Silly me, I didn't think to put it back in. And as soon as I post this, I'm off to bed, so there's no point doing it now. I'll sort it out in the morning.
I spent the afternoon and evening roleplaying, reading LiveJournal, chatting with people, and so on. It was immensely fun. Yay for relaxing downtime! And now I go to sleeeeep. Tomorrow I must do the laundry I ignored today. Tomorrow I shall have the AC I did not have today. On the whole, I can live with this.
