What to say of this weekend. That it's over is obvious. That it was good - well, it was, but that is vague. The usual laundry-list of what I did is inevitable, but also seems somewhat boring.

So: dishes, laundry, some kitchen cleaning (I have been asked for a photo of the kitchen; I hope I will be forgiven if I delay until it is less-embarrassing to show, because truly it has been a total disaster most of this week). Exercised (yay, exercise). Read. Roleplayed. Worked on Ephemera-plot.

What did I read? The Handmaid's Tale as I'd seen it mentioned a few times - very disturbing, as I'd expected, though interesting in its own way. And A Sorcerer's Treason, a novel of Isavalta and a book I truly adore. I'd loaned it ot dad; he wasn't able to get into it, so he returned it, whereupon I reread it almost cover-to-cover, in glee, despite having not thought about it for some time. It was a good read.

Roleplay - several scenes with Susan on Ephemera, and I've also started playing Jemmael on AmberMUSH again, albeit only a couple of scenes. She'll remain a secondary character for me, I think; but she was completely idle, so it is still a bit more.

Ephemera stuff...I've picked up one of the ongoing plots and am handling some stuff from it. So far, I think it's not going too bad, but the measure of that is going to be in the long term and the reactions, not the just-now, isn't it? Meanwhile, I did botch once this weekend - forgot to keep track of it and didn't catch someone I could've done a scene with. I saw them when they logged out, instead. Oops. I'll be trying to pay more attention to that sort of thing now. I felt very dumb.

When Dad returned AST, he also dropped off Elizabeth Moon's The Speed of Dark. I haven't started it yet and likely won't for a bit (I have two books due at the library in the next couple weeks, that I haven't yet finished), but it's third down my reading list and I'm very much looking forward to it.

I finally decided I either needed to start burning candles and enjoying them again, or just pitch the entire lot out or give them away. As burning them is actually much less effort than disposing of them otherwise, I've been doing that. It's been actually quite pleasant, to have the flame nearby; I like the brightness of it, and the scents when they are scented. I don't think I will buy many more candles once these are gone, except perhaps one or two of the in-jar scented ones, which have until now been the only ones I've consistently been using.

And now, I think it's time for sleep, and then to see what the new week brings at work.

I agree with your asessment of The Handmaid's Tale...for some reason, reading it always makes me abit queasey. I feel the same way aboutJohn Irving's books, although I would be hard-pressed to tell you why. ^-^;;
